Objective:

During this lesson, we will learn the simple past and simple present to develop a natural conversation with our partner.

Task 1:

  1. Let’s discuss: 


    What did you do yesterday? 

Yesterday, I ____________. 

    What did you eat last night? 

Last night, I ______________.

    Where did you go this morning? 

This morning, I ______________.

    What did you watch on TV? 

I _______________. 



Task 2:

  1. In the main room, let’s review the spelling rules of the simple present and simple past.

Task 3: Listening!

  2. Then, discuss these questions with your partner: 


  • What did Monica do on Saturday?

  • What did Monica like the most about the play?

  • What did Monica do on Sunday morning?

  • How did Monica spend her afternoon on Sunday?

  • What did Monica do after she got home from the park?





Task 4: Listening!

  1. In the main room, we are going to listen to 3 audios. After that, you will mark if the next sentences are true or false.

  2. Answer these questions, which are similar to the ones on the previous exercise:

Task 5: Reading!

  2. Look for the vocabulary you do not understand. 

  3. Discuss the questions. 




Task 6: Quiz!

  1. The teacher will share a link. 

  2. Write down your name. 

  3. Answer the questions. 



Task 7: Let’s practice for the oral test!

  1. Let’s practice the 3 situations we have in here. Create a 5 minute conversation with your partner. 

  2. This should be a natural conversation where both students participate equally and take turns speaking and listening.

  3. Ask each other follow-up questions to clarify information or to keep the conversation going.

Task 8:

  1. Click HERE for an extra practice about the simple present. 

  2. Do you remember the spelling rules for third person singular? Let’s see!

  5. Ask your classmate for a verb. She/he will send you, through the chat, the spelling of that verb. For example: 

Student A: I bet you don’t know the verb "study". 

Student B: studies. 


Task 9: Vocabulary about routines!

  2. Talk about your routine, and use the adverbs of frequency. 



  1. To talk about the routines, ask your partner these questions: 


Do you always get up at 5 am? 

How often do you have breakfast outside of your home? 

Do you sometimes have lunch at 4 pm? 

How often do you do exercises? 

Do you never wake up late? 

How often do you sleep early? 




Task 10: Final review! 

  1. We are going to read some sentences and some questions. 

  2. Mention if they are correct or incorrect. 

  3. Mention the correct one.
