 Developing Communicative Skills


Objective:

During this lesson, we will learn the present progressive to talk about actions that are happening at the moment. 

Agenda

Task 1: Feedback after the tests! - Simple Present


  1. Let’s remember the simple present.


Simple present:


  1. Third person: he, she, it. 

  2. We change the verb when we have a third person singular. 

  3. We use auxiliaries (do or does) in negative sentences and in questions. Be careful with the pronoun! 


Examples: 


I read at night. 

She reads at night. 

They read at night. 

He reads at night. 

We have pizza for dinner.

She has pizza for dinner. 


More examples: 

I study English. - I don’t study English. - Do you study English? 

She studies English. - She doesn’t study English. - Does she study English? 






Task 2: Feedback after the tests! - Simple Past

  1. Let’s remember the simple past.



Simple past:

  1. We change the verbs by adding -ed or -ied, depending on the ending of the verb. 

  2. We use the auxiliary did in negative sentences and questions. 

  3. The verb to be in the simple past is: is, am = was; are = were



Examples: 


I studied English. - I did not study English. - Did you study English? 

She studied English. - She did not study English. - Did she study English? 

They talked. - They didn’t talk. - Did they talk? 

He talked. - He didn’t talk. - Did he talk?

They are called action verbs because they describe activities or actions that someone or something is doing. These verbs express physical or mental actions that can be observed or imagined. For example:

  • Physical actions: run, jump, swim, write, dance

  • Mental actions: think, decide, imagine, learn

  4. I am reading for my homework.

  6. We are watching our favorite TV program.

Task 10: Project time!

  1. As part of the evaluation from Site Academy, we need to complete 6 projects. 

  2. Project one is to talk about us. 

  3. You will write down your paragraph.

  4. Then, record yourself by presenting the information you wrote. 

  5. Send it to your teacher! 

  6. Do your best since the teacher will share it with the coordinate department of Site Academy. 


Information to be included: 

Name, age, place to work, job position, where you live, who lives with you, hobbies, what you don’t like to do.
