Developing Communicative Skills
Objective:
During this lesson, we will learn communicative skills in English through small peer conversations on topics like meeting new friends, greetings and farewells, introductions, names and surnames, and countries and nationalities.
Task 1:
Let’s discuss these questions in the main room:
Are you from a big city or a small town?
Is this your first time learning English?
What is your favorite color?
Is English easy for you? Or, is it difficult?
What is your favorite hobby?
Task 2:
In breakout rooms, let’s practice the verb to be. Click HERE.
Then, discuss these questions with your partner:
Is your name Carlos?
Are you a programmer?
Are we in the same English class?
Are we John and Thomas?
Is today Tuesday?
Is your favorite food shrimps?

Task 3: Letters of the Alphabet
Let’s listen to the pronunciation of the letters of the alphabet.
How do you spell your name?
My name is Ana. It is A - N - A. (ei - en - ei)
Task 4: Letters of the Alphabet
Decide which student you want to be: STUDENT A or STUDENT B.
In breakout rooms, the teacher will give you a list of words.
Spell them to your partner. At the end, check answers.
Useful language:
Delete the letter “a”. Write “i”.
It is not “a”. It is “u”.
